In addition, their utilitarian build makes them perfect for a variety of shallow water jobs such as moving equipment, fishing, hunting and for maintenance in shallow water environments, such as the installation of emergency swim ladders and fixing docks etc.

The first subheading and content

This is a much more in-depth answer to the question posed by the article title. In the 2nd Paragraph above you answered the question briefly. In this section you will answer the question in much more detail.

Here you can include bullet lists if appropriate.

Example First Subheading & Content

In our example the question was:

Article Title: What is A Jon Boat?

Example first subheading:

Jon boat design and use

A Jon Boat is a very adaptable, shallow draft boat that is extremely versatile with a vast range of uses. As the most significant feature of a Jon Boat is the flat-bottomed design, it is ideal for shallow, calm waters such as lakes, rivers and inland waterways.

Jon Boats are typically small, inexpensive and lightweight boats usually manned by one or two people and are more often than not the perfect choice for leisure use, adapted for fishermen or water borne hunters and for general transportation. These simple robust boats are easy to transport due to their lightweight construction and due to their design, are very stable in calm waters.

Various sizes of Jon Boat are available ranging from 8 – 20 feet in length although the mid-range 10 – 15 feet are most common. The boat length will determine the type of waterway the boat is used in. The width or ‘beam’ of a Jon Boat ranges from around 48” – 75” whereby the wider the vessel, the more stable it is.

The name Jon Boat is a generic name for this style of shallow draft utilitarian boat which are made by various manufacturers and due to their simple construction, DIY efforts can also produce equally sound vessels. Their construction is usually made from wood, fibreglass or more commonly, aluminium. This lightweight construction, depending on material used can weigh between 100 – 300 lbs, can be easily transported on the roof of a vehicle or by a small trailer so it’s easy to see why they’re commonly used by individuals for any amount of watery adventures.

A Jon boat in layman’s language is a boat that is flat and shallow. To make it usable and more practical, builders incorporate one or more benches that extend from one side to the other. Jon boats trace their roots back in Scandinavia where Jon pronounced as “Yawm” is a very common name. Fishermen used Jon boats to haul gear and fish to their larger fishing vessels.

In most instances, Jon boats are usually created with a bench for the occupants to sit on. The boat comes with an open hull, without a bilge. Flat bottom Jon boats are the most common boats around the world. Thanks to their simplicity and small versions that are designed with open ribs that can be covered to achieve a level, even surface.

Why having a Jon boat is a good idea:

  • It is great for traversing shallow water
  • Fantastic for freshwater fishing
  • Performs well as a platform for water-based hunting
  • Great utility boat

The First Subheading example above answers the question posed by the article title in much more detail. The reader is given a more comprehensive answer to the question i.e. it tells the reader EXACTLY what a Jon boat is and what EXACTLY what it is used for in a longer better answer.

Additional subheadings

Here you will give further information that helps answer the question posed by the article title. You will add any additional information related to the topic. You can also discuss caveats, alternatives and generally delve deeper into the subject matter.

Add additional information that may be useful to topic.

Example Additional Subheadings

In our example we have already explained what a Jon Boat is and its basic functions. We gave a billet list of the main ways people use Jon Boats. Now we will elaborate and explain these functions in more detail.

Example of additional subheadings:

A Jon boat is great for traversing shallow water

[A few paragraphs covering this subject matter]

Example:

Due to its flat bottom design a Jon boat can traverse shallow water masses much better than other types of boat.

The underside of an average boat is curved and deep to allow for better stability in the water. However, this design makes them unsuitable for shallow water masses; they simply cannot fit and move in shallow water.

Because a Jon boat has a flat underside it takes up less height in the water and can thus traverse shallow waters without the worry of its bottom getting caught on the river or lake bed.

A Jon boat is fantastic for freshwater fishing

[A few paragraphs covering this subject matter]

Example:

About 13.9 percent (49.1 million) of Americans love and engage in freshwater fishing activities. This makes freshwater fishing one of the most popular outdoor recreation activities in the United States.

These statistics are published and available according to the latest 2017 study produced by the Outdoor Foundation and the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation.

A Jon Boat is the most preferred mode of transportation for people engaging in freshwater fishing in the USA.

Due to their design and size, Jon boats are the excellent craft for persons fishing in shallow ponds, streams, rivers, and lakes. They also have enough space to haul in all kinds of fish like largemouth bass, rainbow trout, and catfish.

A Jon boat performs well as a platform for water-based hunting

Flat bottom boat is a keyword that is related to our article topic but we need to change it slightly so we can provide useful information; “flat bottom boat” on its own doesn’t mean much. We need to use that keyword in a proper sentence in a way that is related to our overall article.

“How the flat bottom boat was used throughout the centuries”

“How to make a flat bottom boat more stable”

“Why you should not use a flat bottom boat in the ocean”

etc. etc.

We decided to go with “Different types of flat bottom boat”.
